Answer: Option C

Explanation:

A person's present age is two-fifth of the age of his mother. After 8 years , he will be one-half of the age of his mother . How old is the mother at present ?

Let, present age of mother = x
present age of the person or son = 2x/5

After 8 year,
mother's age = x+8
son's age = 2x/5 + 8

As per question,
2x/5 + 8 = (x+8)/2
or, (x+8)/2 - 2x/5 = 8
or, x=40

So, present age of mother = 40 years (Ans:)
