The Dhaka Metrorail partially started operating on December 28, 2022, with the Diabari to Agargaon section of MRT Line 6. The Bangladesh Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, inaugurated it and took the first official journey. It opened to the public on December 29, 2022, initially stopping at Uttara North (Diabari) and Agargaon stations. Pallabi station opened on January 25, 2023. All stations from Uttara to Agargaon were fully operational by the end of March.
